“Capturing “the image we will never see twice”. The becoming-cinema of live-streaming”.

Article co-written with Ariane Papillon.

ABSTRACT – A media genealogy reveals a tension towards immediacy. This article focuses on the cinematographic reuse of audiovisual materials initially broadcast on live-streaming platforms. We will show how cinema reveal “the opacity of transparency” and to what extent the logic of capture breaks the performance of surveillance and sousveillance of the real-time images while perpetuating a logic of shareveillance.
