With the aim of encompassing the plural and disintegrating creative activity of Raúl Ruiz, this book brings together multiple perspectives and methodologies of analysis, thus widening the ways of access to his catalog and favoring the critical inquiry of his most recondite areas. The aim is, on the one hand, to account for Ruiz’s amazing ability to navigate between cinematographic languages, formats, geographical zones, languages, artistic disciplines and philosophical problems (“there are as many Ruiz as images he made”, such is the premise), and, on the other hand, to confirm the current diversification of the categories from which his work has been analyzed.

A paradoxical project, Raúl Ruiz. Potencias de lo múltiple is a vast compilation of short essays -at the rate of one per film- that oscillate between academic rigor and speculative flight, with the review as a fair measure. In short, its aim is to focus on the smaller and more experimental formats of Ruizian cinema (television exercises, workshops, theatrical adaptations, dance films, documentaries, unveiled works), advocating for plurality, between both extremes of the wide range that unfolds the cinema of inquiry and shamanic cinema.
